One Shoulder At A Time

June 7, 2010

With all of the Spring 2011 wedding collections that have premiered in the past few months, brides-to-be on the hunt for the “it” dress have some amazing options.  We’ve given some tips in a previous post on how to find the perfect fit for your body type (see Aisle Style), another look we are loving is the one-shoulder dress.

This style has recently become all the rage on the runway and red carpet (Sandra Bullock, Penelope Cruz, Fergie, and Giuliana Rancic have all been spotted rockin’ the one-shoulder look), and we love the dramatic effect of asymmetrical necklines.  Wearing a one-shoulder gown is a great way to show off those toned arms you’ve worked so hard for, and make all that pre-wedding time spent at the gym worthwhile!  Here are some one-shoulder frocks that we adore:

The top left gown is from Badgley Mischka‘s latest wedding collection…and they never disappoint.  The flower detailing along the neckline and the flowing A-line skirt combine to create a dramatic and romantic look.  The top right gown is by Project Runway finalist Carol Hannah, who launched her wedding collection earlier this year.  Though we were bummed she didn’t win, we are so glad it didn’t stop her from creating amazing dresses!  We love her fun, southern-influenced designs like this drop-waist number.  The delicately elegant gown on the bottom left is by New York based designer Junko Yoshioka.  The curved silhouette of the dress is perfectly accented by whimsically placed flowers.  The bottom right gown is from the Vineyard Collection, which is available at Kleinfeld Bridal in Manhattan.  We love the sleek lines and classic style of this dress, perfect if you’re going for understated elegance.

Happy shopping!
