Happy Anniversary: The Rest Of The Milestones

August 24, 2010

After 15 years of marriage, you will probably be very settled into your lives together and will have no trouble coming up with anniversary gifts.  Over the years you might even come up with your own traditions for celebrating your love every year, such as going to the same restaurant where you had your first date, or a weekend getaway sans cell phones or laptops.  Nonetheless, it’s fun to honor milestone anniversaries with traditional and symbolic gifts!  Here are the rest of the “big” anniversaries along with some of our suggestions for fun gifts:

Twentieth Anniversary: China.  The dishware that you and your hubby picked out 20 years ago will probably be a bit retro by the time you’re celebrating your twentieth, so what a perfect excuse to update!  We love anything from the Vera Wang Wedgwood collection, as well as this beautiful Cheverny Bleu 5 piece dinner set by Limoges.

Twenty-Fifth Anniversary: Silver.  We think 25 years is a great time to either renew your vows or have a party…or both!  Some lovely new silver serve-ware will be perfect for the occasion, such as this beautiful Chantilly serving tray by Gorham Inc and this modern silver cocktail shaker by Carrs.

Thirtieth Anniversary: Pearl. Pearl jewelry is classic and timeless, yet doesn’t have to be as formal and traditional as the ones your grandmother gave you.  Don’t forget that pearls come in a variety of shades such as black, pink, and gray!  This Palette of Pearls necklace from Sundance is a fun and modern twist on pearl jewelry, and for him we like these mother of pearl cuff links and button covers from Barney’s, New York.

Fortieth Anniversary: Ruby.  While ruby earrings or a ruby pendant necklace would make a beautiful gift, another idea is a red pashmina, such as this Loro Piana red cashmere/silk scarf, from Neiman Marcus.  A deep red silk tie such as this one from Burberry will look great on any guy, so with the two of you all spiffed up in these fabulous accessories, you’ll be ready for a romantic night out!

Fiftieth Anniversary: Gold. Fifty years of marriage is a beautiful accomplishment that deserves celebrating!  A romantic trip to your favorite travel destination – or that place you’ve always wanted to go – would be a perfect way to celebrate your love.  We say crack open the Veuve and enjoy reminiscing about your favorite memories together.  Cheers!
